What to see after the amphitheatre: old-town Roman monuments, the Forum, viewpoints, museums and an easy walking route through central Pula.
Continue into the old town
The strongest next step is not another car journey. Walk from the Arena into the historic centre. Pula’s main Roman monuments, pedestrian streets, Forum and hilltop heritage are compact enough to connect on foot.
Forum and Temple of Augustus
The Forum has remained a civic focus since Roman times. The Temple of Augustus gives the square an immediate archaeological anchor and works well as the second major Roman monument of the day.
Arch of the Sergii
Follow the pedestrian centre toward the Arch of the Sergii, one of Pula’s best-preserved Roman monuments. Its detailed decorated façade rewards close viewing rather than a quick photo stop.
Climb for context
Kaštel hill gives a broader sense of the city, harbour and the compact relationship between the old town and the Arena. From there, choose museums, Zerostrasse or a slower food-and-café route.
Frequently asked questions
The old town, waterfront edge and several central landmarks are within a short walk.
Yes. They fit naturally into the same walking itinerary.
Allow at least two to four additional hours if you want the Forum, Roman gates and a viewpoint rather than only the amphitheatre.
Time-sensitive visitor information is dated and linked to the official Arena Pula / Archaeological Museum of Istria pages. Historical dimensions and monument facts are based primarily on museum documentation and the Croatian Encyclopedia.
